The north shore of Hong Kong Island across Victoria Harbour is, perhaps, one of the most impressive skylines in the world. Panoramic views of iconic architectural edifices are complemented by the harbour with the surrounding mountains and ridges as backdrop.

My travelling feet

Sometime ago, I came across this wonderful photoblog, Feet First which features the travelling feet of a couple (and later on, their daughter) documenting their travels. Some might consider this a cliche or somewhat cheesy but I’ve always thought that taking photos of my feet on my travels is a fun way of recording adventures and memories.

Revisiting the Old Town Square, Prague in summer

This square comes alive with a much more exciting buzz in summer. I visited this historic city square three years ago in winter and I was already amazed by the architecture and activities happening all around the square. But the dynamics of activities and the mixture of sounds in the square are totally different in summer.

I also had the chance this time to go up the Old Town Hall Tower for more stunning views of the square below and a 360deg panoramic view of Prague, the Vltava River and the Castle Hill.

Some weeks ago, I visited my hometown in the Province of Albay in the Philippines. The main landmark of the province is always a sight to behold. But I must admit that growing up in the shadows of this grand dame, I somehow took her for granted. She was just always there. The recent visit provided that opportunity to capture some of her glory.

Mount Mayon is the most active volcano in the Philippines (located in Albay, 490kms south of Manila) having erupted over 48 times in the past 400 years. Local folklore refers to the volcano as Daragang Magayon (Bikol: ‘Beautiful Lady‘). The cone is considered to be the world’s most perfectly-formed volcano because of its almost symmetric conical shape. The upper slopes of the volcano are steep averaging 35–40 degrees.
Elevation: 2463m
Prominence: 2447m
Last eruption: 2010

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.  - Ode of Remembrance, Laurence Binyon
Lest we forget.

Interesting buildings in New Town, Prague adorned with Art Deco and Art Nouveau architectural details:

The Koruna Palace (Na Příkopě  corner Wenceslas Square) was built in 1910 by the architects Antonin Pfeiffer and Matěj Blecha. The angular tower has statues on the crown which were works of Vojtech Sucharda (c 1912-1914).
